01. Serpent's Kiss |
Universal's 2008 collection of (nearly) all The Mission's videos combined on one DVD, enhanced with Digital 5,1 Surround Sound. Basically this DVD features all the clips from the early days up to 'Masque. The DVD kicks off with 'Serpent's Kiss', which takes the Hatter tea-party motif from T-Rex's 'Born to Boogie' film and intensifies it by 200 degrees with a bunch of alcohol and drunken baffoonery courtesy of Wayne and company, to a sub-par extended remix which butchers their best song 'Beyond the Pale'. While 'Stay With Me' and 'Severina' simply float on air with their wispy warbling of gorgeous sound and power, courtesy of Simon Hinkler's awe-inspiring lead guitar, Wayne's stone-cold growl and Julianne Regan's heavenly backing vocals, 'Kingdom Come' suffers all the trappings of the dime-store, cookie-cutter butt-rock 80s video. But all that aside, whether you're an eskimo or just starting to discover the band, you'll enjoy it.
