Flowers the third and without doubt best installment of the glorious return of Echo & The Bunnymen, is a stroll through the psycedelic garden that is the minds eye of Will Sergeant and Ian McCulloch. The boys are on familiar ground with a nod to the doors Through the opening track King of Kings and a wink to The Velvet Underground with Buried Alive all the classic hallmarks that make the Bunnymen tick are here. Mac really flexes his vocal muscels with the gorgeous title track Flowers while Will has a ball with An Eternity Turns, finishing with the custumery haunting ballad in this case Burn With Me. Here is what all Bunnyheads have been waiting for the big sister to Ocean Rain. All these new Bunnymen songs are very life-affirming and uplifting, and basically so essentially Bunnymen. Hardcore fans will love it, and young 'uns out there should buy this album immediately, and see what the term â??charismatic frontman' really means. â??Flowers' is on lush and confident form, and on hearing songs like the joyous call-to-arms â??It's Alright' or the beautifully mournful â??Buried Alive', it's hard to believe that they'd ever left us. As ever, it's the interplay between McCulloch's rock star swagger of a voice and Seargent's fluid guitar lines that really impresses. Closer â?? the languid, gorgeous â??Burn For Me' is an aching, heartfelt paean to a loved one, and surely one of the loveliest things that they've ever done.
