SHACK - Byrds Turn To Stone (CD single - Pt.2)

Shack's imminent single "Byrds Turn To Stone" is joyous, a delicate, chiming thing blessed with all the subtlety of its titular subjects at their finest. Documenting the beginnings of the Head brothers' musical partnership ("Who'd be the first one to learn/All the tricks by Mr Lee?"), it's utterly beguiling - the rolling acoustic guitar and drum breakdown in the middle is a thing of wonder. Byrds Turn To Stone turns back the clock to heady days of learning to play guitar "when we ma ate Swifty's cakes and freaked us out..." The Byrds and The Smiths hang about their front porch, getting the strumming treatment here, a jazzy makeover there.
