Dream Arcade is the follow up to the excellent "Native Place" released back in the 80s . If you remember The Railway Children from quite a few years ago, you'll be pleasantly surprised that they're still going strong and singer/songwriter Gary Newby's come up with a more robust sound that works very well. Altogether harder edged both lyrically and musically than its predecessor it again has some of the great pure guitar pop moments found on "Native Place" with songs like "Wake The Dreamer" and "Come Around". This time there are shades of The Comsat Angels and The Smithereens. Gary Newby has a voice that will appeal to fans of the Lotus Eaters' Peter Coyle ? a deeply seductive croon that beautifully captures the sorrow and romanticism of his heartfelt lyrics.
