Brand new 5th album by SPASMODIQUE. During the eighties SPASMODIQUE gained a solid cultstatus in Holland, Germany, Austria & Hongary with their dark, abrasive, murky noise-rock that served as a starting point for their ruminations about alienation, depression, depravity, and the disturbing side of human nature. Heavily influenced by JOY DIVISION and the likes of THE SOUND and THE SWANS they gained a very impressive following in Holland due to their fantastic and intense live performances. The group disbanded in 1992 but started to meet each other again in 1996. They reunited for a one gig only performance at the 10th anniversary of the 'De Vlerk' venue in Rotterdam and spent the last 3 years recording new songs for the new album From Villa Delirium. In the meanwhile vocalist Mark Ritsema continued with a solo career and got raving reviews for his solo-album 'Studio Gloria'. The concept of Spasmodiques' 'From Villa Delirium' is based on a moody and somewhat desolate 80's feel and also recalls the history of the band. The song ' Holiday In Manchester' is a homage to Ian Curtis and also a description of a pelgrimage to this grim British city. At once incredibly destructive and astoundingly life-affirming "From Villa Delirium" demonstrates that Spasmodique has emerged even more powerful and artistic than before, aiming for an awesome, all-encompassing majesty in their music that the admittedly hypnotic earlier versions of the band, in their brute forcefulness, simply could not have achieved. This album is the clear starting point for the second half of Spasmodiques' unique career.
