Digitally remastered by Steve Lyon in 2004 these recordings date from 1983-1984
at different venues in Europe and the USA during their Empire Days tour. The
album captures The Opposition when they were at the forefront of the post-punk
English new wave. For this tour, on what would turn out to be their last major
tour, the three members of The Opposition - Mark Long on vocals and guitar,
Marcus Bell on bass and keyboards and Ralph Hall on drums, were joined by ex-Comsat
Angels guitarist Paul Robertson. The band met Paul during the taping of an
'In Concert' show and were knocked out by his individual style, he is featured
here on the last 6 tracks. This collection is a true gift to the band's fans,
a testament to their extraordinary talent, both in the studio and especially
onstage. Frontman Mark Long infuses each song with a jolt of energy and drama
and sings with conviction from the heart. Now-classic tracks such as "Black & White", "Breaking
The Silence ", "I Dream In Colour " and "Empire Days " have
never sounded better.
