Madrugadas excellent followup to the successful Grit is a notable shift
back to their roots as a rock band. Heavy Bass tracks, alot of drum and strong
guitar work have made their latest effort a winner.
The opening track of the album "The Kids are on High Street" sounds remarkably
like some of the earlier REM tracks, and to the untrained ear Sivert could
be mistaken for the lead singer of REM Michael Stipe.
This song was also chosen as the first single for the album and is clearly
one of the standout tracks and is attracting alot of attention."The
Lost Gospel" is similar in vein to some of more recognisable works
from this band and should be the second single of the album. The sound is definitely
bigger here than on any of their previous albums, with many of the songs featuring
Hammond organ, Wurlitzer piano and pedal steel guitars plus plenty of guitar
tracks by the eversolid guitar twanger Robert Bur?s. On The Deep End,
Madrugada show time and again they can do light and shade like no other. The
hour before sunrise will always be theirs.
